The Naïma Quartet is a formation born in 2016 at the initiative of the double bass player Naïma Girou. Lulled by the great jazz musicians, she creates a formation rich of their influences, in the service of her own universe. She gathers around her a team of talented musicians.

Always influenced by the great names of Jazz (Betty Carter, John Coltrane, Abbey Lincoln, Horace Silver, Sarah Vaughan...) as well as by more recent musicians such as Esperanza Spalding, Roy Hargrove, Cecile McLorin, Julian Lage or Kenny Garrett, the music of the quartet continues to build a bridge between tradition and modernity.

By turns joyful and light, melancholic and sweet or more electric and dark, the album is the image of our contemporary life. It is like an autumn sky that lets the light pass through, only to suddenly become darker. The Naïma Quartet is tossed between optimism and questioning, between ostensible cheerfulness and intimacy but also between tradition and modernity. It does not choose a camp.

Naïma Girou: double bass, voice
John Owens: guitar
Jules Le Risbé: piano
Thomas Doméné: drums
