Following a cycling accident, Jacques Vidal was unable to play. He returned to composing after many years devoted to the work of Mingus. The result of these long months of writing is HYMN. Flitting between groovy and spiritual atmospheres, fiery and contemplative, the double bassist traverses the history of jazz through the eleven tracks of the project. These subtle yet powerful pieces are enhanced by the members of his quintet, for which he composes.
