Born in Havana in 1972 into a family of musicians, Joel Hierrezuelo learns drums from his father and starts playing guitar at a very young age. At the age of twelve, he was already performing in amateur orchestras before graduating from the Havana Instituto Superior Pedagógico. He then joined the Temperamento group alongside Roberto Fonseca, before leaving in 1997 to join the community of Cuban musicians in Paris where he moved in 1997. He continued many collaborations, performing in the largest halls from the world, from Marciac to Montreal via the Sydney Opera House, finding Roberto Fonseca on the way with whom he collaborates in sideman on three albums, including "Yo" (2011), Grammy nominated for the best Latin Jazz album. In Maurecourt he will present for us his album Zapateo Suite, a musical journey drawing on his Cuban roots and his rich career.
