Married to Dexter Gordon, who died in 1990, Maxine Gordon published Sophisticated Giant, a book about the life and legacy of the illustrious tenor saxophonist. Dexter had started writing this autobiography and, after his passing, his wife finished it, marrying his voice with hers.
