Paris Jazz Festival - Parc Floral

Creators from all over the world have celebrated Paris as a haven of jazz music. After feeding the musical needs of more than 140,000 spectators in 2009, this new edition of the Paris Jazz Festival will pursue its journey through unconventional jazz territories. An essential part of Parc Floral’s Musical Summer, in partnership with Classic au Vert (classical music every week-end in August and September) and Pestacles (concerts and workshops for young audiences, every Wednesday from June to September), the PJF confirms its uniqueness with a cutting edge program that will appeal to both jazz enthusiasts and nature lovers. The exceptional appearance of the Jan Garbarek Group for the first time in Paris after many years, the new musical project imagined by vocalists David and Maria João, the Shalom-Salam week-end dedicated to improvised music in Israel and the Arab world, are but three examples of our creative ambitions. As for our decision to showcase the strong ties between classical music and jazz with Christophe Monniot’s Vivaldi Universel program and Enrico Pieranunzi’s tribute to the sonatas of Domenico Scarlatti, it expresses our concern to help the general public slide effortlessly into the concerts of Classique au Vert. All in all, the success of the past edition of the PJF has reinforced our conviction that the genius of jazz is perfectly suited to the harmonious and colorful surroundings of Parc Floral.
