Jam Session Tribute To Cole Porter
modarated by Simon Chivallon
American composer and lyricist Cole Porter brought an international impetus to the American musical. He made his Broadway debut with the unsuccessful musical See America First. He served in the French Foreign Legion at the end of World War I and married a wealthy American woman, Linda Lee Thomas, in Paris while living the life of a playboy. Back on Broadway in 1928, Cole Porter was launched! He presented his first triumph, the musical "Paris". We owe him songs such as "I Love Paris", "Night and Day", "So Near and Yet So Far" which became jazz standards and were played at jams such as Simon Chivallon's! The latter, originally from the Bordeaux region, graduated from the Pôle Supérieur de Paris in 2015. Sideman and leader he loves above all, the stage. In March 2021, he will release a trio album "Light Blue" devoted to a repertoire of songs that has been unanimously acclaimed by the profession. If jazz is a way of living music in the moment, Simon Chivallon is the embodiment of this, and each solo demonstrates this through his spontaneity and frankness. There is no room for pretence: what is played is what comes, a sensitivity that expresses itself, a talent that breathes and seeks to touch the listener.
