For this concert, we will discover a new collaboration around the latest compositions of the British bassist Gary Brunton. "Bendigedig" ("wonderful" in Welsh) which brings together the legendary French saxophonist François Jeanneau and the drummer Andrea Michelutti.
Settled in France since the 80's, Gary Brunton played with Noël Akchoté, Julien Lourau, François Merville before setting up bands with Édouard Ferlet, Gregor Hilbe, Stéphane Belmondo, Jean-Charles Richard... He is also the co-founder of the Pee Bee, a large multicultural jazz collective that brings together bands and experiences from all over the world.
François Jeanneau, saxophonist of international renown, flutist, composer, arranger, conductor, teacher, soundpainter, needs no introduction. Since 1960, he has led an international career as a jazz musician with his own trios or quartets, playing in all the major national and international festivals. He has made more than 30 recordings under his own name and many others in participation.
Andréa Michelutti, of Italian origin, studied drums in Triestre then moved to Paris in 1991. Since then, he has had a rich and intense international career as a drummer, composer and arranger.
The repertoire they will present is inspired by the musical culture of Wales (where Gary lived) and the great saxophone/bass/drums trios of jazz history: Sonny Rollins, Steve Lacy, John Coltrane.
