Notes d'un Voyageur" were written on restaurant tables, on the piano in a concert hall or in a hotel, inspired by the magic of images, smells and encounters that travel brings. These notes gathered in scores have given birth to works reflecting Franck Monbaylet's undeniable attraction for many musical cultures. Traveler on the 5 continents with different formations, awarded for a best film music at the Beijing Film Festival (Beijing), Grand Prix Charles Cros for a Spanish creation, his music is jazz, ethnic, classical (of early 20th century inspiration), Arabo-Andalusian, South American.
Maurice Merizen's various percussion instruments, derbouka, cajon, pandeiro, daf, etc., have been chosen to best serve the journey that this group offers. This hybrid set offers beautiful combinations of sounds that connect us to the vibratory heritage of the Earth. The cello of Prosper Sibertin-Blanc, a classical musician by training, offers the depth and virtuosity necessary to serve the themes and arrangements. The virtuoso ease of William Brunard on double bass (Biréli Lagrène's double bassist), brings an important link between writing and improvisation. Franck Monbaylet on piano, as a happy captain of this beautiful formation, combines subtlety and power, always free in his rhythmic and harmonic expression to color his playing with all his classical, jazz and ethnic influences.
The pleasure of playing together is there, you can feel it, see it and hear it, boarding immediately for a world tour of sensations.
