The singer and composer Mayomi, originally from Cuba, reveals, between light and shadow, her own artistic universe, open to all the winds of music born between islands, archipelagos, continents all linked to the Great Ocean: the Atlantic.
In his melodies, rhythms and harmonies are interwoven the sum of influences that have forged his artistic personality. First of all, the formidable Afro-Cuban heritage: the innumerable musics which were born and aggregated in Cuba, his native island. Omnipresent in her compositions (the attachment is visceral), she propels it in a beautiful way in the field of the present by not hesitating to cross it, even to heckle it, with very urban grooves, the funk, the jazz in its most modern variants.
So, rumba, bolero, soul, latin sound, crazy improvisations, syncopations, cadenced rhythms, jazz colors, mix not in an opportunistic fusion to stick to the current taste of the World music but to express the fiber of an artist in full bloom.
Mayomi Moreno makes a strong statement. These are her own words that her song carries. They tell of exile, the suffering of being torn away, of fled loves, of melancholy, of roots. But also the appetite for life of a woman.
See her on stage, in phase with herself, even more in her creations. Calm, solar. Her pretty and bewitching voice knows how to become dark to instill a melancholic soul, deep, authentic, a crack that strikes. He also knows how to sparkle with luminous flashes of joy and energy that invite to dance or to trance.
