Long-time accomplices, founding members and active leaders of the Zoot Collective, trumpeter Noé Codjia and saxophonist Neil Saidi have shared the stage hundreds of times in recent years. They are now putting together a brand new quintet to bring their new explorations to life. Surrounded by a luxurious rhythm section composed of pianist Noé Huchard, Italian bassist Luca Fattorini and Danish drummer Malte Arndal, they invite us to discover their universe through their compositions, as well as to delve into an incredibly rich repertoire, that of the famous quintets that have marked the history of bop and hard bop...
Neil and Noé became friends during their studies in New York in 2015. When they returned to France in 2016, they founded the Zoot Collectif with other French musicians of their generation. The two acolytes share a common taste for composition and have been able to indulge their passion through the various projects of the Zoot Collective: "Zoot Suite" a meeting between the Zoot Octet and a string quartet, but also "Pannonica" a musical show about the jazz baroness Pannonica de Koenigswarter embodied on stage by Natalie Dessay, and more recently with the project "Zoot Symponique! "for which Noé and Neil each composed an orchestral piece, which premiered on June 7, 2022 at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées. The first record of the 5tet will be released on Zoot Records in the coming months.
Let's stop chatting, and see you on April 24th to discover this new dashing quintet !
