The intangible duo of pianist Mario Canonge and bassist Michel Zenino is joined by some of the most talented musicians on today's jazz scene to form a high-flying quintet, combining jazz, Caribbean and hard bop.

"A torrent of energy and brute force (...), swing, mastery and virtuosity (...), poetry (...) and swaying grooves", Alex Duthil, Open Jazz, France Musique

Both the 1st and 2nd albums celebrate their mentors. "This is the tour de force of this group, which defies the inexorable weight of passing time. The freshness of this music enchants us, playing with heritage to sublimate it", Joe Farmer, RFI

And the cast is well worth the detour! With Guadeloupe-born drummer and composer Arnaud Dolmen, author of two critically acclaimed albums. In 2022, he won the Victoire du Jazz awards in the "Revelation", "Musician of the Year" and "Top 3 Drummers of the Year" categories, according to Jazz Magazine and Jazz News; trumpeter and guitarist Josiah Woodson, winner of a Grammy Award as Beyoncé's sideman; and saxophonist Ricardo Izquierdo, twice honored with a Revelation trophy from the monthly Jazz Magazine in 2014 and 2017.

Quint'Up's refreshing jazz is rooted in tradition, but its modernity is energized by the talent of its youngest performers. Mario Canonge and Michel Zenino, more symbiotic than ever, hold the ensemble together with masterly hands, thanks to their tailor-made compositions and arrangements.
