Appearing in the early 1980s when part of jazz was refocusing on some of its historical values, Kenny Garrett was the first to show, through the dramatic intensity of his playing, that the alto could once again compete with the saxophone. tenor, instrument par excellence of the quest for jazz since John Coltrane, a musician whose influence he claims loud and clear. Kenny Garrett is now seen as the heir to a certain tradition of post-bop viola and surrounds himself with younger musicians who integrate into their playing rhythmic elements from hip-hop, nu-soul or gospel that help keep his music in tune with the latest developments in African-American culture. A made-to-measure line-up: 3 musicians influenced by Latin music, Afro, nu-soul, hip-hop, led by percussionist François Constantin, who, supple like a wild cat, making a velvet paw or lumberjack's hand on his percussion, touches us, moves us, makes us laugh... A concert set then place at the jam where the best musicians of the moment and the jameurs parade to take advantage of this unique moment when time remains in suspense.
