Carlton RARA is a Franco-Haitian singer, composer and percussionist whose roots weave and blend an artistic identity of a unique genre. Its musical colors are plural: Haitian color, reggae color, blues color or black world music. Twice in the FIP selection, with four albums including one ranked in the top World/Jazz des Inrocks in 2012, the man who is sometimes described as a "Haitian bluesman", sees his song Do You Love Me chosen for the credits of the film Joséphine with Marilou Berry. In 2021 the American label Putumayo included Choukoun, the flagship track from the album Peyi Blue, in a compilation entitled World Café. As a preamble to a new album to be released in 2024, Carlton Rara today offers us a rich repertoire of original compositions, in Creole, in English, carried by his singular voice with new nuances.
