VASARELY FOUNDATION
MONUMENT

Inaugurated in 1976, the Aix-en-Provence Architectural Center is the core of Victor Vasarely's project.
Designed by Vasarely with the collaboration of architects Jean Sonnier, Dominique Ronsseray and Claude Pradel-Lebar, the 5,000 m2 building is an example of the integration of art into architecture, to achieve "the polychrome city of happiness".
Sixteen hexagonal modules are nested in a gigantic construction set using technology and materials favored by the modern movement. This honeycomb structure presents 44 monumental architectural integrations, the common thread of which is optical art.
