A self-taught multi-talent, Carlinhos Patriolino is now one of the leading names in Brazilian instrumental music. Talented and versatile, critically acclaimed for his unique musicality, he is taking part in the 20th edition of the International Choro Festival in Paris.
Choro is a popular Brazilian instrumental music that originated in Rio de Janeiro in the second half of the 19th century, and continues to be played today, not only in its hometown but in all the major cities of Brazil. As a national musical style, choro predates samba and bossa nova, of which it is one of the sources. It is a music of exceptional richness and aesthetic importance, as important as jazz, flamenco, tango and the other great expressions of popular music that have flourished and enriched since the end of the 19th century.
