Karim Ziad Invites Azawan

The quintet Azawan (which means «music» in Kabyle) is the result of a meeting between Didine Kati, musician of Algerian chaâbi, and Martin Guerpin, jazz musician and musicologist trained in France, the United States and Canada.
Through arrangements of chaâbi pieces and original compositions, Azawan offers an original mix between jazz and chaâbi, at equal distance from folklorism and world music.
After the release of their first album «Azawan» in 2022, the five musicians make us travel, goign through classics of chaâbi, Andalusian music, but also by «chaâbified» jazz standards.
