‘The terms “lyricism”, “elegance”, “delicacy” come up frequently when we talk about the music of Yuval Amihai, whose first two albums were hailed by the critics (’Yuval Amihai Ensemble’ in 2012 and “Longing” in 2015). He is praised for his ‘apparent simplicity’. This is indeed the hallmark of this virtuoso who refuses to be one. With his minimal orchestrations, pared-down aesthetic and on-the-nose delivery, the composer-storyteller eschews the spraying of notes as much as the bombast. More of a pen than a trigger. With a stroke of his guitar, he creates perspectives: ‘My aim is for listeners to be touched by the music, not put off by the technical aspect. I'm wary of demonstrations and pompous concepts. In my view, music should be shared by all and not the property of a chapel of specialists", says the musician without note instructions. ’
