(Giant Steps 03/10/2023) Simon Spang-Hanssen has composed a series of new songs in collaboration with the talented children of his former jazz comrades, pianists Ben Besiakov and Niels Lan Doky. This family musical project brings together different generations of musicians, creating a wide spectrum of musical styles. Mai and Ken grew up in a world of jazz but have also worked in other musical genres such as soul, reggae, afro-pop and Caribbean music. Likewise, David has skills in Brazilian rhythms, hip-hop and funk. Anders masters both the electric bass and the double bass and has a wide range of musical experiences. Simon Spang-Hanssen takes the lead. The saxophonist has revealed himself as a songwriter since the release of his two albums, "Back to Earth" and "Speaking to the Wind", with Claudia Campagnol and Alain Apaloo on vocals. Their new album titled “Green or Purple” is scheduled for May 19th so… let’s stay tuned!
