TAL COAL (MAUD HERRERA)

France

Singer and violist Maud Herrera has embarked on exploring new uses for traditional music with her solo project, Tal Coal.

Tal Coal delves into the fusion of sung poetry, baroque music, magnetic tape recordings of Venezuelan work songs, and violin from the Périgord region. It invites listeners on an improvised journey, without a precise itinerary or sheet music, through the musical memory of different eras and regions, from forgotten Caribbean songs to ancient melodies of the Haut-Agenais countryside, moving into a realm of experimentation and sonic emotions.

ALEXIS DEGRENIER AND YANN GOURDON

France

Emerging from the vibrant realm of new folk music, Yann Gourdon and Alexis Degrenier create a fascinating sonic experience as a duo.

Yann Gourdon, a hurdy-gurdy player and founding member of the collective La Nòvia, and Alexis Degrenier, a percussionist with La Tène and Tans Mein Herz, had met during their studies and reunited years later. What to make of all that time passed? An astonishing music, sometimes dusty, sometimes saturated, where the hurdy-gurdy establishes a cyclical repetition while the percussion disrupts and punctuates it, where sounds are altered to amplify silence or noise, like the poetic score of a time that returns, eternally.
