Christine Salem from Réunion Island, an icon of modern maloya, has created a high-caliber hybrid quintet, a true female all-star ensemble.

Her rich, deep voice, radiant charisma, and boundless musical curiosity have enabled Christine Salem to embody all variations of the mystical music of her island, maloya, invented by the descendants of African deportees. Here, she pushes her musical explorations even further by forming an all-female quintet composed of artists well-versed in jazz and improvisation across the board. With Fanny Lasfargues on bass, Anne-Laure Bourget on drums, Héloïse Divilly on percussion, and Tatiana Paris on guitar, this is a sumptuous group ready to soar into uncharted, abrasive, spiritual, blues, rock, and ... maloya territories!
