FABRIZIO RAT & OPHÉLIA HIÉ

ITALY, FRANCE, BURKINA FASO

CREATION

An unprecedented collaboration between a vibrant balafonist and a modular synth wizard, creating a musical electron with unexpected connections.

On the balafon, Ophélia Hié, deeply influenced by the rich traditional repertoire of Burkina Faso as well as today's musical modernity. On keyboards, Fabrizio Rat, a specialist in hypnotic electronics and organic techno. Their aim: to blend the sawtooth waves of modular synthesizers with the flexible groove of hand-played music, with sticks swiftly moving over the balafon keys. Their unique encounter promises a musical electron with unexpected connections, from Burkinabe ceremonies to techno trance, which energize the legs as much as they open up the ears.

DRC, FRANCE

CREATION

Two wizards – Congolese performer Wilfried Luzele (Lova Lova) and electronic producer GOD3FROY – for a single magic, a thunderous afro-electro potion.

Congo, 1960: the South Kasai region secedes. Its constitution contains only 14 articles. The state is overwhelmed, and thousands of civilians are massacred. From this disaster, an expression emerges that becomes common parlance: "Article 15," meaning "fend for yourselves to live." This new duo has taken their name and inspiration from this, blending the energy of the streets of Kinshasa, fiercely delivered by Lova Lova, also known as Master Thunder, with the grimacing synthesizers of the black mage of Gargäntua, to set the dancefloor and its inhabitants ablaze while facing reality head-on.

Lova Lova is in residence at La Dynamo with the support of the Department of Seine-Saint-Denis.
