Thursday, October 3: "Looking For Mingus"

Ten years after the trio Looking for Parker, it is a new rendezvous to put into perspective the music of Charles Mingus, one of the most influential double bassists and composers of the Jazz scene during the 20th century. The now Quartet Looking for Mingus will draw from the vast repertoire of this great master of melody and revisit the themes that marked them ("Reincarnation of a Lovebird", "Tonight at Noon", "Haitian Fight Song" and many others...). It is around a particular instrumentation (without double bass, which is already a challenge in itself to evoke the music of Mingus!), between the electric sounds of the guitar and the acoustic sounds of the alto and baritone saxophones and drums that this new repertoire imagined by the quartet will be woven.
