Every Sunday and Monday, la Rhumerie brings you together for a jazz evening that revives the tradition of St Germain des prés during the fifties, and offers a selection of rums and West Indian cuisine (surcharge + € 1 per order on concert days).

We no longer present the great musician Louis Armstrong. Born on 04/08/1901 in New Orleans. Died on 06/07/1971 in New York. His talent as a trumpeter, his charisma and his stage skills have forged his international reputation over time. LOUIS ARMSTRONG will remain the best ambassador of jazz throughout the world. In order to represent him worthily, we offer you the Louis Armstrong Memory orchestra composed of talented European musicians.

Joë SANTONI: A trained guitarist, he started playing the trumpet at the age of 24 and quickly made it his main instrument. Inspired by the hot jazz of the 30s, Joé takes this orchestra into a very dynamic and authentic jazz style with his trumpet flights reminiscent of Louis Armstrong's phrasing.

Eldar TSALIKOV: Born in 1993 in Russia, he started playing the saxophone at the age of 9 at the children's jazz school. At 17, he graduated from the Jazz School and decided to continue his studies in Germany at the University of Berlin. Since 2005, he has performed on the clarinet and saxophone throughout Europe and joined this group "Louis Armstrong Memory".

Jean-Baptiste FRANC: Talented pianist, from a family of musicians, nicknamed "little Fats" by Al Casey, guitarist of Fats Waller and had the privilege of playing with Arwell Shaw, double bassist of Louis Armstrong and won the 1st prize at the international stride piano competition organized by the Ole Miss University of Mississippi in 2018.

Gilles CHEVAUCHERIE: Unanimously recognized as one of the best French double bass players. After his beginnings on the banjo, he joined the double bass in 1970 "les Haricots Rouges", a famous New Orleans jazz group. Practice Slap, a way of exerting tension on the strings to make them snap on the neck and produce an extraordinary rhythmic effect.

A concert full of surprises that will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end...

Joë Santoni : trumpet, chant
Eldar Tsalikov : clarinet
Jean Baptiste Franc : piano
Gilles Chevaucherie : double bass
