Strange Fruit

A musical suite against racism and stigmatization

Based on a proposal by Philippe Ghielmetti and Stéphane Oskéritzian for the Visions Fugitives label, Bruno Angelini has created this new solo piano repertoire. 
Based on pieces by great composers and performers such as Nina Simone, Ornette Coleman, Billie Holiday, Marvin Gaye, Max Roach, Gill Scott-Heron, Charles Mingus, Archie Shepp, Kendrick Lamar...Bruno Angelini offers a highly personal interpretation, in which we find the fundamental aspects of his music: his predilection for space and silence, his raw lyricism imbued with free jazz, and his roots in blues and funk. Each note is thought of as its weight in gold, and a harmonic universe unfolds, drawn from modern jazz and contemporary music.
