JUSTIN ADAMS & MAURO DURANTE - Au Fil des Voix

When Justin Adams, guitar hero and longtime collaborator of Robert Plant, meets Mauro Durante, the visionary heir to the Taranta tradition of his native Apulia, the chemistry is instantaneous.

The former is driven by a post-punk approach softened by the grooves of North Africa, having produced iconic albums for Tinariwen and Rachid Taha. The latter, a violinist and percussionist bursting with energy, tours the globe with virtuoso Ludovico Einaudi, shares the stage with Ibrahim Maalouf, Goran Bregovic, and Piers Faccini, and takes over the leadership of the ensemble perpetuating the Taranta, a cousin of the Neapolitan tarantella, after his father.

Since their fortuitous musical encounter, and following Still Moving, their acclaimed debut album, this daring project is evolving into a unique, fusion-driven entity of its own. Sweet Release, which they will present to a Parisian audience for the first time, is proof of this transformation. Between ancestral vibrations and punk spirit, the fervor of the tamburello and electric riffs, Justin and Mauro craft a raw, stripped-down sound that moves and mesmerizes.

"When Adams' electric guitar lingers languidly along the hillside, Durante's wild violin takes flight, tugging at the heartstrings. Utterly unpredictable and profoundly meditative."
