Back from Reciprocity, the leader's previous album, is rising star American guitarist Nir Felder, whose warm tone and flowing lines are a key element here alongside John Escreet's cascading work, resounding bass lines by Larry Grenadier and the irrepressible presence of Olivier Le Goas behind the kit. Together, they navigate the winding terrain of the fully-performed compositions of the drummer with sensitivity and balance, with a few knowing winks to Metheny along the way.
