In 2003, Laurent Mignard has founded the Duke Orchestra in order to recreate the "Duke Ellington Sacred Concert" in the  Saint Sulpice Church, and then the "Far East Suite" in Beirut. The Duke Orchestra and its soloists dream team have gradually established themselves as the best Ellingtonian orchestra in activity (according to the Duke Ellington Music Society), recreating the Ellington legacy on the greatest stages all over the world. Composer, Laurent Mignard is inspired by Ellington, Ornette Coleman, Debussy, Dutilleux, Takemitsu … in search of the balance between serenity and surprise, beyond the traditional tonal laws. Laurent Mignard has succeeded Claude Carrière as chaiman of "la Maison du Duke".
