Jazz at Champs-Elysees
Festival bringing together free events in Saint-Quentin, Hauts-de-France
Jazz at Champs-Elysees
Festival organized by the Jazz aux Champs-Elysées association with the help of the City of Saint-Quentin offering 5 free events during the summer. The festival ends with a piano recital at the conservatory at the beginning of November.
It was in 2002 that the great adventure of Jazz Aux Champs-Élysées in Saint-Quentin began with the concert of Philippe de Preissac.
Placed first of all under the aegis of the Blue Rhythm Band, this summer event proposed by the City of Saint-Quentin in the small garden of the Champs-Élysées, also called garden of horticulture, will grow and embellish over the years, beginning by producing 4 concerts a year in 2002. The association organizes exceptional events at regular intervals: larger events, exhibitions, film screenings, grand parade, meetings between professional artists, but also professional musicians and local amateurs.
It was in 2007 that the eponymous association was declared in the Official Journal, on March 17 exactly, and it was also in 2007 that we went from 4 to 6 concerts. It is also on this date that the solo piano recital at the Conservatory is born every year in October or November.
The piano in jazz has this particularity, like all so-called rhythmic instruments, of being often listened to only as an accompaniment instrument. With JACE, the piano regains its letters of nobility and listeners can thus attend special moments: listening to a jazz pianist in solo. To date, 122 concerts have been organized and we have been able to listen to 680 musicians. Thank you to the City of Saint-Quentin, which is investing significant resources in funding, personnel and technology for the organization of Jazz Aux Champs-Élysées.
