The Banlieues Bleues festival, jazz in Seine-Saint-Denis, will celebrate its 40th edition in 2023.
Renowned since the end of the 1980s for hosting the biggest names in jazz, great black music - blues, soul, rap - African music and contemporary music in the northeastern suburbs of Paris, Banlieues Bleues has become a major event in France and internationally, with its free-spirited programming, widely open to the diversity of cultures and aesthetics, and with its pioneering character, passionate about creativity, musical novelty and bringing music to all audiences.
If beauty has no age, the face of this 40th festival, which will radiate over 12 cities of Seine-Saint-Denis (and two incursions into Paris), has not aged a bit. As a proof, among the forty invited groups, many of them are new seekers who invent the music of tomorrow. A kaleidoscopic festival opening is being prepared within the walls of the University Paris 8 in Saint-Denis.
